Yesterday was a little bit hectic what with gift giving, stew makin’ (declared by some to be a new holiday tradition), and visiting with family and freinds. As a resulte I didn’t get up the Christmas card image but here it is. Also, there is a picture of Ian next to a lovely blue bear!
Ian’s settled in this weekend with bathtime, meeting with great-grandma, and editing in bed with Dad…
So we checked out the hospital yesterday and came on home. Martha says that we look like typical frightened parents. I say that we both just really look tired. Poor little Ian kind of gets lost in the carseat.
Here are a few pics from a few minutes after Ian was born. In one picture you can see Kim (our Doula and Bradley Class instructor – white sweater) and Char (our midwife and blues singer – scrubs). Ask me and I’ll bore you with endless details of the labor — but in summary, the labor was pretty short — about 4.5 hours total. But the baby was posterior so Martha had back labor. Kim and Char and Kristine (the delivery nurse) were incredible. And Martha was like a marathon runner.
Anyway, irony kind of dains away from me when I start talking about the birth — so I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
